Author’s Reflection

“June Bug”

“June Bug” was written as a dedication to someone who was more than a friend to me — he was my brother by another mother. He came into my life during a time when things were hard, when the world felt heavy, and when both of us needed someone who understood without needing everything explained.

There are some friendships that become family, not because of blood, but because of loyalty, love, laughter, and the way someone stands beside you when life is not easy. June Bug was that kind of person in my life. He was my best friend during a chapter where survival did not always feel simple, and having him there made the weight of those days a little easier to carry.

This song is about remembering that bond. It is about the kind of friendship that gets you through dark seasons, the kind where you laugh through pain, hold each other up, and create memories that stay with you long after the moment has passed. Some people leave footprints on your heart so deep that time cannot erase them.

Writing “June Bug” gave me a way to honor him, not just as someone I knew, but as someone who mattered. Someone who showed up in my life when I needed a brother. Someone who walked beside me through a hard part of my story. Someone whose name still carries love, memory, and meaning.

This song is for June Bug — for the friendship, the brotherhood, the hard days we made it through, and the bond that will always be part of me.

Some people are not just friends.

They become family.

And June Bug was family to me.
