Author’s Reflection
“Move Like That”
“Move Like That” was written from a place of confidence, freedom, and letting my body feel alive again. After writing so many songs about pain, trauma, ghosts, and survival, this song gives me permission to move, breathe, flirt, dance, and enjoy the moment without carrying the weight of everything I have been through.
This song is about energy. It is about walking into a room and not shrinking. It is about feeling the music in your body and letting go of the fear, the shame, and the voices that once told you to hide. “Move Like That” is playful, sensual, and upbeat because sometimes healing is not quiet. Sometimes healing has a beat. Sometimes healing looks like dancing like nobody owns you anymore.
For me, this song also carries a strong LGBTQ+ spirit. It is about confidence, attraction, movement, and being comfortable in your own skin. There is something powerful about being able to move freely when the world has tried to make you feel wrong for who you are. This song says, “I am here, I feel good, and I am not apologizing for the way I shine.”
Writing “Move Like That” reminded me that I am more than my darkness. I am more than my trauma. I am more than the pain people left inside me. I can still have joy. I can still be sexy. I can still laugh, dance, love, and feel the rhythm of life moving through me.
This song is for the ones who need to feel free again. For the survivors who want to dance after the storm. For the LGBTQ+ community, the bold, the beautiful, the sensual, and anyone who has ever stepped onto a dance floor and remembered they still have power in their body.
“Move Like That” is my celebration song. It is confidence in motion. It is freedom with a beat.
